Trial results
14 trials were conducted to establish the efficacy of Nor-Mite®. Nor-Mite® was incorporated in feed at 500 ppm in these trials, which totalled approximately 487,000 laying hens.
To estimate red mite pressure, we used cardboard traps positioned in the barn (the number of traps is adjusted according to the number of laying hens) for 24 hours. Then the traps were frozen at -18°C for 72 hours, and the number of red mites in all traps was counted. Red mites counts were performed before the use of Nor-Mite®, 15 days and 35 days after. Results were analyzed by Student’s t test (Graphpad software, 2018).
We observed a decrease in the red mite population between 37% and 88%, with a mean of 73% (p<0.0001).
